Guichon is one of the world leaders in special valves. The company has developed in the custom product market – the “needle in a haystack” – and now exports over 85% of its production to all five continents. This is a remarkable achievement for a small business founded in 1921, which was originally focused on local manufacturing, such as valves for the thermal baths of Aix-les-Bains.

We are proud to offer a century-old French know-how, both in France and internationally. At the same time, we remain strongly committed to contributing to the regional and national economic environment in which we operate.

Since October 2024, GUICHON VALVES ORIGIN has been part of the independent group ALTI-O. It is supported by its sister companies, SCCM ALP, a designer and manufacturer of flue gas treatment solutions, also based in Chambéry, France and ArcInnov Technologies, an engineering company specialising in industrial processes based in Saint-Chamond, France.

The group also benefits from its long-standing industrial presence in Asia through GUICHON Shanghai a joint-venture established in 2007.

As the historical Asian subsidiary of the group, GUICHON Shanghai enables GUICHON VALVES ORIGIN to remain close to its target markets while combining French expertise in high-performance valves with the responsiveness and competitiveness of local production.

GUICHON Shanghai supports major industrial projects in the chemical, energy, and process industries, delivering solutions that meet demanding technical specifications and tight project schedules. This international footprint strengthens the group’s ability to serve customers worldwide with both local support and global engineering expertise.

Today, Guichon Valves Origin primarily serves industrial clients across all sectors; process providers, end customers, or engineering companies who are designing the processes of tomorrow with the aim of addressing the planet’s economic and ecological challenges.
Whether it involves creating innovative materials, optimizing resources, limiting or valorizing waste, the teams from our design office, sales, and marketing support our clients in their innovation efforts.

Customer Support

With expertise in all valve technologies, we can guide our clients impartially. We assist them from the early stages, during co-development phases, through our consulting-audit-training department. Naturally, we are also present in after-sales to start up units, train on-site staff, or optimize and secure processes. Since 2017, we have been monitoring our products throughout their entire lifecycle and taking them back for reconditioning or recycling.

1921 “The creation of the company”
Francis Guichon establishes “Mécanique et Manufacture de Cuivre et Bronze” in Savoy, France. A few years later, the company supplies the valves for the hot springs spa in the town of Aix-les-Bains
1933
The company provides all the valves for the thermal installation of Aix-les-Bains.
1952
Diversification towards the Chemical Industry, using fabricated technology.
1956
Guichon moves to a larger plant in Aix-les-Bains.
1974
Manufacturing of the famous 501 Gate valve for Gachot.
1991
ISO 9001 Certification.
1992
After 15 years of belonging to the subsidiary Gachot/Tyco, Guichon recovers its independence under the name “Guichon International”.
2002
Takeover and funding of the company by Guichon Valves.
2004
Development of the TLV3 valve, for which Guichon received the label BPI-Anvar for innovation.
2006
Start of the engineering activities – First fluid flow studies.
2007
Relocation to a new site (10,800 square feet) in Chambéry, Savoy, France.
2008
ISO 14001 Certification – Guichon now assures complete traceability of all its products (human, material, machine).
2009
A Steering Committee (CODIR) is formed to drive continuous improvement, to define the values and ambitions of the company.
2010
Guichon wins the “Trophée de Savoie” in the category of Economy and is recognized as the regional “Company of the Year”.
2011
Launching of new website – major investment in production tools (5-axis center, three CNC workstations, …) – Purchasing of CFD software to handle bi-phasic fluids.
2012
Guichon celebrates 90 years of business with its sales agents (30 nationalities).
2013
Integration of R.S.E. (Corporate Social Responsibility) in the governance of the company – Obtaining of ISO 26000 certification.
2014
Launch of Lean management program – Doubling of production capacity (digital lathes).
2015
Certification OHSAS 18001 – Control multiways valves piloted by hydraulic actuators for PTA – DN250x150x150 PN250.
2015
Guichon joins the Valco Group (Malbranque, SNRI, VVS).
2017
Industrial building and office extension.
2024
Acquisition by SDIH (Savoie Développement Industrie Holding), Guichon Valves becomes Guichon Valves Origin.

Management System

The steering committee’s mission is to assist and guide the CEO in strategic decision-making and oversee the proper management of the company. It meets once a month.

 

Quality System

Meeting the highest standards, GUICHON VALVES ORIGIN ensures the identification and traceability of all its operations and products through its ERP system, EVERWIN V.23. Furthermore, the company operates in strict compliance with established procedures.

Pressure Testing: All our valves are tested in-house.

Material Origin: We ensure that the majority of our material sourcing is European.

Technical Qualification: On-site qualified operators are certified, particularly in welding and inspection processes (Level 2 Dye Penetrant Testing by our Workshop Manager).

Guichon Valves Origin is certified according to the following standards: ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 3834, and ISO 19443
