Fabricated (Welded)

The technique of welded construction allows great flexibility in the design and construction of valves as well as a wide choice of materials. Our expertise in all-welded construction provides undeniable technical advantages, mainly linked to the use of semi-finished products such as rolled plates and bars, forgings, and extruded tubes. These advantages are:

  • A very low general corrosion rate
  • A very low rate of abrasion and erosion
  • Excellent performance at high and low temperatures as well as thermal shock resistance
  • Good resistance to mechanical and thermal fatigue

Cast

These are valves whose manufacture is done in series so as to better amortize the cost of the cast pattern. Cast construction helps optimize the shape of the valve while reducing material costs. The cost of manufacturing a cast valve is lower than that of welded construction. Lead-times, on the other hand, may be long depending on the time of manufacture at the foundry. Radiographs are often needed to ensure there is no porosity within these elements.

Solid, Monobloc

 

Producing valves directly from bulk stock material or forgings is popular for small quantities (it avoids making a cast mold) and avoids any welds that may need to be radiographed. This type of valve has good mechanical integrity. In contrast, machining times are relatively long due to significant material removal, and the financial consequences are significant, particularly for exotic materials.
